QUIZZING NEWS

  • October Grand Prix - Sat 4th

We are delighted to be heading to Birmingham city centre on Saturday 4 October for our next Quizzing Grand Prix, the second of the 2014/15 season. As well as the regular individual quiz for UK rankings points, and an internationally flavoured Hot 100 quiz for global bragging rights, we are very pleased to be able to present a team quiz by Tony Gold, a very highly regarded setter indeed whose questions always entertain while taxing your grey cells.

  • BQC2014 - Pat Gibson regains his crown!

Pat Gibson triumphed over his friend and rival Kevin Ashman, seizing back the Mark Bytheway Trophy and the title of British Quizzing Champion that goes with it. Pat later partnered Kevin as they defended their Pairs title. While in retrospect they outscored the other 34 competing pairs they went out at the Quarter Final stage to eventual Knockout winners David Stainer and Olav Bjortomt (former champions themselves) The pairs of Alan Gibbs & Anne Hegerty and Mark Grant & William De'Ath just missed out as losing finalists.

  • Derbyshire League Needs a Team

Founded in the early eighties, the Derbyshire Pub Quiz League is one of the longest established leagues in the country, and with 29 teams, also one of its largest. Its region extends from Chesterfield in the north to Burton-on-Trent in the south. Those 29 teams need to be restored to the 30 enjoyed in the season just past to minimise the weeks that any team must be without a match.
