Fontana = spring, fountain, possibly
Bach = stream

I'm being led by bad puns to a river connection, possibly Ford - whom Falstaff hopes to cuckold.

Well done Andy. The same bad pun led master Shakspere to call him Mister Brook in the Merry Wives etc. Over to you

The capital of Chechnya bears the soubriquet of which ruler?

As it's the highbrow, you'll need the regnal number

This will probably make me look really stupid but I'd just like to ask what questions are asked in the High Brow thread? Are they just much harder than other threads?

No EMon it's not that the questions are harder but the egos are bigger on this thread. Highbrow would embrace music, philosophy, literature, art and all things cultural including Ambassador's excellent history question which currently holds the baton. Watch the box set of Kenneth Clark's BBC series Civilisation and you too will be an authority on Highbrow.

Watch the box set of Kenneth Clark's BBC series Civilisation and you will have a fair introduction to the world of Highbrow.

Thanks David. Think I'll stay clear of this thread... not that I had a hope of answering any questions anyway!

Yes, Nick it is Ivan IV, the Terrifying/Awesome/Awful/Terrible. An intimidating name for a garrison town.

Apropos the Emon/David dialogue, I hope that Emon visits regularly - I look at the Sport thread to learn, not to answer. Meanwhile I must go and weigh my ego!
