Hi Everyone,
I'm coming to my first event Saturday, and as I'm travelling on the Friday and staying over, would I be ok to attend the Dogging! event?
Also is there a hotel around there that anyone could recommend?
Many thanks!

Ed Payne

Cheers Ed. Name's on the list. Am sure someone will pipe up with hotel advice... Chris

Catherine Fomina and I would like to attend the Greyhound Racing on Friday (and we'll pay for tickets if the free tickets are no longer available). Catherine will attend the start of the quiz but she doesn't need lunch and won't be taking part. I will attend all of the quiz and eat lunch. We won't be able to attend the Saturday evening.

Ed, we're staying at the Restover Hotel, slightly to the east, but I can't actually recommend it because I know nothing about it except that it is cheap (£37 for us both, even as late as last night) and it is close to the racetrack. These are the two reasons why we chose it. I believe we can get to the venue in the morning, slightly to the west, with a brisk walk, but it looks like it will be an hour at normal walking pace. Look forward to meeting you.

Dr Ian,
Thanks for that, got in at the Restover!

Chris, can you put me down for the curry as well as the dogs.
Really looking forward to the weekend and meeting everyone.
Many thanks.
Ed.

I'd never heard of the Restover Lodge but it's in a great position for the dogs. Just over the road. It's even reasonably placed for a 20-25 minute stagger back from the curry on Saturday night but it's a fair distance from Longhorpe Village Hall where the quiz is being held. About four miles. I think I'd share a cab there but then I'm very lazy.

I'm staying at Aaron Park, 109 Park Road PE1 2TR (chosen for its proximity to the curry house). £42 for a single, en suite room B&B.

FA Cup

Postby stevedodding » Wed May 02, 2012 11:11 am

I've just spoken to the Brewery Tap where we intend to have post-quiz and pre-curry drinks. They will show the FA Cup final on their TV but are having some problems with their digibox currently and have suggested I ring on Saturday to make sure it's ok. That's the best I can do for the time being.

I'm now on the last train to London from Peterborough on Saturday night(about 9.30 pm, I think) - if we are due at the curry house at 8 pm, could I please put my name down for the curry after all? The Royal Spice doesn't look too far from the railway station, and IIRC from our last visit, the service at the restaurant was reasonably brisk. And O! the wonders of Google, found the very fine caff adjacent to the market where a group of us had a magnificent artery-busting full English breakfast ....

Yes, Steve was right on the button recommending that cafe! Chris
