May 2019 UK Quest Grand Prix - Results

Postby Chris » Sat May 04, 2019 3:15 pm

We have all of the May UK Grand Prix scores in and these are now online (see link at foot of this piece). We were delighted to see the turnout for this quiz was 181 players, including 30 plus in Rhodes. Doubtless the turnout will be gratifying to our setters. Oliver Levy and Paul Sinha, who are presently ‘down under’ in New Zealand. I offer them thanks on behalf of Quizzing Towers and all our players for a set featuring many fascinating questions. Cheers!

We heartily congratulate Didier Bruyère who has triumphed yet again, with a winning score of 132.2, ahead of Pat Gibson (129.0) and Kevin Ashman (127.6). Fourth place was taken by Olav Bjortomt (122.1) and in fifth place was David Stainer (117.0). The top 10 was completed by Steve Cooke (116.0), Scott Dawson (114.8 and 19.1), Martin Wightman (114.8 and 19.0), David Hesp (112.7), and Hugh Bennett (110.7). Well done to all.

In total we had 181 players, the median score was a very respectable 86.4, and we had just over 15% through the 100 barrier. By recent standards it was a challenging quiz but a number of genres had some excellent scores registered.

Here are the medal positions, by genre.

Many thanks to all of the competitors, and of course to the proctors - for your continued support/help. And here’s wishing all of you the very best of luck in next month’s World Quizzing Championships!
