Rochester GP (2 July) - Apres Quiz (revised)

Postby Chris » Sat Jun 18, 2016 7:57 pm

Please note, this article was edited (again) on 28 June, circa 18.40hrs.

This year, our regular post-GP haunt, the ‘Good Intent’, is unavailable due to one of the locals hosting his “stag night” there. However, all is not lost, Ken has kindly got us sorted somewhere equally suitable and convenient!

After the quiz we suggest everyone repairs to the ‘The Man of Kent’. This pub is one you’d have to go past were you to be making instead for the Good Intent.

For those of you in cars, you’re probably best leaving your vehicle in the church car park and walking to The Man of Kent, as the pub hasn’t any dedicated parking of its own.
The Man of Kent will already be familiar to a number of you as the pub you head for over the lunch break to grab a beer. It has lots of "ales", and those who go there regularly seem to like it.

The Man of Kent also has a garden area – which contains a pizza shack trading under the name ‘Bubba Luigi’, from where people will be able to buy food in the evening. This ‘Shack’ will prepare fresh pizzas to order, with a wide variety of toppings which the guy running-it makes up using the ingredients of your choice on bases he prepares in advance.

IMPORTANT: RE FOOD FOR THE APRES-QUIZ (amended 28 June)

OK, due to a difference of opinion, shall we say, between the licensee of the Man of Kent, and her Pizza Man, the last named no longer works at the pub, and like him, pizzas are no longer unavailable there. And so Ken has very kindly saved the day by getting approval for our regular curry house to provide us with food in the evening.

So, if you we're looking forward to a pizza, apologies. Hopefully the currys on offer - same price £8 per head - will act as a fine alternative.

This is what's on offer...

Vegetarian curry, or

Chicken Masala ('mild'), or

Karahi Chicken ('medium')

All served with pilau rice, naan, poppadom and Bombay potato.

So, could those of you who indicated you wanted pizza please contact me - or post below, to say whether or not you want curry instead, and if so, what sort.

Many thanks

OTHERWISE, PLEASE INDICATE BELOW IF YOU WANT A CURRY ON THE NIGHT AND PLEASE INDICATE IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS.

Hi Chris

Tony Walmsley, myself, two wives and one daughter would like to attend The Man of Kent apres-quiz gathering. We would like to order a pizza each, so that's five.

Thanks

Clive

For any quizzers coming down on the Friday, we will, as is our custom, meet up for a nice meal at a local Thai restaurant in the High Street. The eaterie is readily accessible via the rear entrance of the St George Hotel for anyone staying there.

Time is likely to be 8.30pm.

Anyone who would like to take part, please message me or e-mail KenOwenUK@aol.com

Ideally, I would like to know by Wednesday, so I can book the table.

See you soon!

Ken

If you are planning to enjoy the Rochester apres-quiz, please re-read the lead article above, in particular regarding the changed meal arrangements. Pizza is no longer available, but curry is.
