Well done Dysart

No 8 is indeed Rooney, a film which culminates improbably with John Gregson leading Dublin to victory in the All-Ireland Final at Croke Park.
No 9 is Swift which was a sort of junior version of Eagle (one for the old timers!)
No 3 is not Alan Moore who though Dublin born is not quite the household name I was thinking of. However I yield you the point as Moore is the connecting answer. I was thinking of Thomas Moore of Moore's Melodies who is sort of an Irish equivalent of Robbie Burns in so far as he is unofficially Ireland' s National Poet and his ballads are known and sung across the world. So that is 10 down.

Frank Swift is not the o-o-o. Some of the others could also have been described as stand-ins because someone higher in the pecking order was unavailable or not selected. Swift skippered England as first choice on the day in his own right (1948 victory over Italy in Turin). But the o-o-o could be described as a "stand-in" so you're almost there

Correct. Victory over USA at Soldier Field, Chicago in 2005. He took the armband at half time from the substituted Sol Campbell. The other 9 are recognised by the FA as official England captains but Calamity James is not. Congrats - the baton is all yours.
