Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
Re: Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
Well done Blue 2 is indeed Sting and 6 is Little Mo so another two pins are down. Benny 8 is not Get Carter which Dysart tried on a previous post.

Re: Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
Congrats Benny I have good news and bad news for you; Number 8 is indeed Buster and he is the o-o-o but not for the reason you state. Believe it or not Plug had his own comic as well, a spin off in the 1980s. Anyway that's six pins down, but we still have 4 to go + the now obvious connection and the reason why Buster is different from the others.
Re: Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
Ok so in summary:
1 Leading character in Nursery Rhyme
2 Performer on original Band Aid single STING
3 Book of the Bible
4 Young male who features in several sports BALL BOY
5 Means of promoting a product PLUG
6 Nickname of Wimbledon champion LITTLE MO
7 Character in TV cartoon series voiced by a Hollywood celebrity
8 British crime film BUSTER
9 Popular children's game
10 Character in Mozart opera FIGARO
Time for some hints: 1 is involved in a bit of a tongue twister; For 3 think Old Testament rather than New; The TV cartoon series in 7 is South Park; the children's game in 10 is the sort of thing useful in occupying them during a long drive for example.
The connection is now pretty obvious although no-one has yet stated it explicitly and Benny got the right o-o-o but hasn't come up with the reason so far. The four remaining answers should be gettable by people who grew up from the 1960's onwards...

Are we looking for Beano characters?
1 THE RAGGED RASCAL?

Re: Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
Not just Beano characters Benny ... Figaro the Mexican bandit appeared in Topper and Victor. 1 is not the Ragged Rascal but you're definitely on the right track!

1 SIMPLE SIMON
3 RUTH
9 I SPY

Re: Continuous Quiz: Tenpin Bowling
That's more or less the connection Benny although comics like the Beano appeal to both boys and girls. They are all characters who had their own strip in British children's comics. You have also taken down another pin in Number 9 which is I Spy. Number 1 is not Simple Simon but is an alliterative chap all the same. The character in South Park (clue 7) shares his name with a character who like Plug and Buster was the title character of his comic.
